InLiquid is deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend Frank Maimone. As the owner of the pizza shop Rustica, Frank was a major staple in Fishtown and Northern Liberties, where Rustica is located. As an active member of the community, Maimone always contributed to InLiquid’s major events (The Benefit and Art for the Cash Poor) a plentiful amount of food–from piles of fresh pizza to platters of his unique sandwiches–for our staff and volunteers.
Rustica, located on the corner of 2nd and Poplar, opened in 2001, and was one of the small businesses that catalyzed Fishtown and Northern Liberties’ artistic spirit and community-driven mission. In addition to its partnership with InLiquid, Rustica also partnered with local nonprofits like PAWS, Fishtown SPCA, and Girls Rock Philly. For the 2020 InLiquid Benefit, Rustica fed our dedicated staff, interns, and volunteers. During our last phone call with Frank, we will always remember him saying to us, “anything for you guys.”
