InLiquid and Park Towne Place Museum District Residences have collaborated to create a day of open-to-the-public exhibitions, art discussions, art-making, music, food-and-drink, and an exclusive boat tour along the Schuylkill River–all in celebration of Philadelphia’s arts and cultural community and its many contributors to the Parkway’s continuous evolution as a place to see and experience art. This event marks the conclusion of DesignPhiladelphia, an annual tradition which highlights the work of hundreds of local designers, architects, and creative professionals.
All to take place at the beautiful and historic Park Towne Place, the InLiquid exhibition Architectonic Shift will be open to the public: an exhibition of four distinct artists–Colleen Keefe, Kristin Schattenfield-Rein, Linda Brenner, and Margery Amdur–telling the story of changing landscapes and cityscapes through art objects, actions, drawings, and installation. The overarching theme is the transformation of time and place, as each work incorporates objects and imagery that are tied to a previous history. Altered from their original purpose by the artists’ varying processes, the works tell a new story.
The afternoon will culminate in a special reception for Configuration: Nicholas Kripal, a landmark exhibition, located in the newly open-to-the-public gallery of Park Towne’s North Tower, of the late ceramic artist–a monumental influence on countless students as a ceramics professor and chair of the Crafts Department at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art.
Outside on Park Towne Place’s Great Lawn is set to have several art-making activities, live DJ-ing, and Philly favorite food trucks. Best of all, all the activities are open to the public. Here’s what’s in store:
