Park Towne Place

InLiquid and Park Towne Place Museum District Residences are excited to welcome back mixed media artist Amy Orr to teach us how to create personalized mandalas and other decorative totems using common materials that often rest in the scrap piles and drawers of our homes – old credit cards, fragments of jewelry, old keepsakes, and other domestic artifacts. Amy will help us repurpose these items along with paint and other materials to achieve compelling, meaningful and personal art objects. Participants are encouraged to bring any small “scrap” items with them. Other craft materials and supplies will be provided.

The workshop is accessible to all levels of experience! We are accepting RSVPs on a first-come, first-served basis and we expect the class to fill up quickly.

Amy Orr’s work is featured in Park Towne’s permanent collection. She is a maker, teacher and risk taker reinventing her art practice with each new work. Orr creates obsessively ornate upcycled structures with provocative commentary from common detritus. The work ranges from museum pieces to street art, and often includes community participation. She is currently an adjunct professor at Moore College of Art and Design and the force behind fiberphiladelphia 2012. She holds an MFA from the Tyler School of Art.
