Jay G. Texter

Jay Texter Photography

Artist Statement

Jay Texter is a photographer whose practice explores industrial design and form through both digital and analog processes. With a focus on visual presence and aesthetic nuance, he uses light as a primary creative tool to reveal the designing characteristics of refined automotive design.

Drawing on decades of freelance studio experience, Texter brings meticulous compositional discipline to his personal work. He photographs significant automobiles in private collections and on the show fields of major automotive exhibitions, applying a highly developed visual sensibility to each subject. To further emphasize design elements and intricate details, he has developed proprietary photographic methods that distinguish his imagery.

Much of his work is intentionally intense and abstract, challenging traditional perceptions while celebrating the artistry of automotive design. Central to his practice is not only how an object is seen, but how it is reconsidered after encountering its visual interpretation.

Printing is an integral component of Texter’s process. He personally produces most of his prints and maintains an extensive photographic archive of historic and signi=icant automobiles.
