I discovered bead weaving approximately five years ago -- a process of self-discovery and a much needed creative escape during the early days of Covid. Bead weaving is a labor-intensive and detail-oriented art form (many pieces contain thousands of tiny beads). I weave each piece by hand, either on a wood loom or freehand, and incorporate traditional weaving techniques (e.g., brick, herringbone, peyote, right angle weave, square stitch, etc.); it’s always exciting and rewarding to see my creations take shape. All pieces are comprised of luminous Japanese glass beads. I recently began experimenting with three-dimensional shapes, which add movement and interest. My pieces are vibrant, colorful creations designed to add a dash of color to your life. Inspiration is drawn from abstract art, stained glass windows, kaleidoscopes and mosaics. My work seeks to continue and preserve this ancient technique while presenting a modern, contemporary aesthetic.
