Our Artist in Residence Program invites artists to reinterpret Glen Foerd within historical and contemporary contexts. Accepted artists use diverse mediums, research methods, and storytelling approaches to challenge conventional narratives and imagine new opportunities for engagement. Works from past residents have used Glen Foerd as a lens to highlight obscured stories of marginalization and to uplift possibilities for improved stewardship of the history, the land, and the longevity of this site.
Glen Foerd will be accepting one Philadelphia-based artist or collective for the 2026 Residency Program. The selected artist(s) will devise a series of four public engagement events that lead to a culminating art installation in the “Gold Room”, a spacious, semi-furnished room overlooking a scenic stretch of the Delaware River, on the second floor of the mansion opening in Fall, 2026. The selected artist(s) will receive a $3,000 stipend to fund materials, time, and any other costs associated with engagement events and the installation.
Public engagement events must be free to attend and may include, but are not limited to, hands-on workshops, open studio demonstrations, storytelling facilitation, film screenings, and performance. Residents will have access to on-site shared workspace in the Carriage House for the duration of the residency period.
This residency is a collaboration. Glen Foerd recognizes that every artist works differently and may face different barriers. If you have an exciting idea but are unsure how it fits the constraints of our site or program, please reach out and we would be happy to discuss. Attending an Open House or Information Session (dates below), or visiting during weekend Open Hours, can be a helpful step to think through ideas and possibilities within this unique site.
