We invite artists, curators, members of the Shipley community–including colleagues, alumni and those with other affiliations–from the Greater Philadelphia area to submit proposals for the Speer Gallery. We seek artists whose work challenges conventional thinking, pushes boundaries of perception, and resonates with our educational values.

The Shipley Speer Gallery located in the Upper School campus main building is a space committed to fostering creativity and dialogue through visual arts. It was founded in 1990 in honor of Margaret Bailey Speer, former Head of School. We are committed to exhibiting works that not only inspire our students, but also engage and enhance our academic programs, encouraging connections between art, critical thinking, and creative expression.

We accept submissions at any time - there is no deadline. Our next review will take place in January for the 2026-27 school year.

Artists will be financially compensated for their work. Exhibition and/or programming fee is determined based on level of involvement (group show, solo show, workshops given)
