The 20*20 House works to be a welcoming space for our community— regardless of age— to explore and enjoy art. However, we know galleries can feel off-limits for families, especially those with young children. Second Gen seeks to break down these barriers by designing a family-friendly gallery environment. This exhibition pairs artists’ work with that of their young counterparts, creating a dialogue between generations. Children’s artwork will be displayed at their eye level, challenging traditional gallery norms and making the space speak to a all ages. Second Gen also celebrates the challenging balance artists strike in their multifaceted roles as creators, caregivers, and teachers. At the same time, the work of young artists, often relegated to child-specific spaces, will be celebrate for the fresh energy and perspective they bring to creating and viewing art.
