2023 CFEVA Members Exhibition: The Calm Before the Storm
“The Calm Before the Storm” invites CFEVA Artist Members to showcase concepts that embrace maximalism and excess visual noise in contrast with the exploration of emptiness and solitude. These seemingly opposing visual representations will be interconnected throughout the gallery in this group exhibition.

The Center for Emerging Visual Artists welcomes Artist Members working in all visual media to apply to the 2023 Members Exhibition juried by CFEVA Visual Artist Fellow, Chelsey Luster. Please submit up to 8 existing works (jpg or png files preferred) for consideration in the exhibition, along with artist's statement, bio, and portfolio website to Membership@cfeva.org. Selected artists will be notified early May for a mid-June installation at CFEVA’s gallery. All selected artists are responsible for the delivery of their work to CFEVA at 237 S 18th St., #3A, Phila. PA 19103.
Chelsey Luster is a Philadelphia-based curator, visual artist and art educator from Baltimore, Maryland. Luster received their BFA from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art and Architecture and attended a residency at Chautauqua School of Art. As a curator, Luster has organized multiple group exhibitions, was a Katheryn Pannepacker Curatorial Fellow at the Da Vinci Art Alliance, and is currently developing their curatorial practices as a Vox Populi member and Exhibition Manager at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens.
