The Philadelphia Fellowship for Black Artists was designed in 2020 to fund, foster, and elevate the important work of emerging Black visual artists residing within the City of Philadelphia. This year, Mural Arts will support a 6th cohort of 15 artists of any medium with $2,000 in unrestricted funding and provide access to optional programs and support such as:
- Networking opportunities and convenings
- Career development workshops
- 1:1 consultations with curators or artist mentors
- Exhibition opportunities
- “Behind the scenes” visits with local arts institutions
Eligibility
The Fellowship is open to African-American or Black visual artists residing in Philadelphia who have not worked for Mural Arts Philadelphia in a Lead Artist capacity within a year of their application date.
Artists must live or work in the greater Philadelphia area
Artists must Identify as Black, African American, or be identified as part of the African Diaspora
Artists must have a current artistic practice, as evidenced by the materials submitted
Musicians, vocal and performing artists (as a main practice) are not eligible for this opportunity at this time.
