The exhibition—reflecting an expansive range of subjects, approaches, and mediums—provides a vibrant window into the breadth of talent within New Jersey and beyond. Themes of family and community resonate throughout with artists’ personal yet deeply relatable narratives along with a focus on the beauty often encapsulated in ordinary objects. Using such varied materials as paint, fabric, found objects, wood, collage, photographs, video—even human hair—artists use both traditional and contemporary forms of visual creativity to address themes of politics, sustainability, race, ethnicity, sexuality, memory, the passage of time, the human body, family relationships, and community.

Says Juror Kate Moger, “ViewPoints celebrates the capacity of art to capture, transform, and reimagine the world around us—one vision at a time. The exhibition is a testament to the richness of conversation among the works on view, where a single gesture, material, or image can spark deeper meaning. Whether rooted in memory, history, or observation, these artworks remind us that art is not only a reflection of the world but a way of reinterpreting it and ourselves.”

About the Juror Kate Moger is a Brooklyn-based gallerist, curator, and artist. She currently serves as the Associate Director at albertz benda, a bi-coastal gallery with locations in both Los Angeles and New York. In 2021, she co-edited the catalog THIS IS AMERICA, published by Distanz Verlag, and her writings have appeared in notable publications such as Art in America. Kate has previously held positions at esteemed galleries and institutions including Eric Firestone Gallery, MoMA PS1, and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston.
