Exhibits & Events

Second Thursday receptions: September 12 AND October 10, 6 – 9pm.
POST dates: October 5 – 6
This fall, InLiquid presents Repertoire Revised, a solo installation by Karl Jones in the Hall at the Crane Arts Building. The exhibit is a site-specific installation of recent mixed-media wall sculptures and large mask “portraits” created by Jones. His imagery is inspired by model kits, Halloween masks, and other novelties of American pop culture.
Karl Jones studied at the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts) and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Jones has exhibited at Chris White Gallery (Wilmington, DE), White Columns (New York, NY), and the Philadelphia Armory. This summer Jones’ work was included in “Lost and Found II” curated by Fran Holstrom at Hal Bromm Gallery in Tribeca, NYC.
Karl Jones writes about his art:
“This body of work is centered in reconstructing and decorating a story’s moment in symbolic plastic model sprue tree fabrications, monofilament portrait and wall drawings. Memento mori, vestiges of loved objects, reconfigured experiences conforming to emotional memory. To invoke a present alternate form of a cautionary tale or human existence story involving attempts to evaluate their nature and qualities. Capturing visceral moments, illusions and tapping into their unique idiosyncrasies…”
The public hours for the Crane Arts Building are noon – 6 pm, Wednesday – Saturday, and until 9 pm on the Second Thursday of each month.
Support provided in part by the Philadelphia Cultural Fund.
