The reception overlaps with our South Philly neighborhood Last Fridays Meet-Up beginning at 7 PM. No. 5 Butchie Alley is hosting this month’s gathering—if you’re nearby, come celebrate the exhibition and meet your neighbors! (The neighbor meet-up will likely run a bit later!)

Monumental Roots explores porcelain, architecture, and botanical memory through works honoring Philadelphia’s artistic legacy. Terri Saulin’s vessels resurrect Hermann Schwarzmann’s lost Horticultural Hall and celebrate the ornament of Frank Furness, while Charlotte Lindley Martin’s work is a whimsical love letter to Philadelphia’s ceramic traditions, reimagining historic regional pottery and paying tribute to beloved teachers, mentors, and legendary collector Helen Drutt.

Part of Radical Americana, a citywide initiative organized by The Clay Studio in celebration of Philadelphia’s Semiquincentennial.
