Some of the most powerful shows in OFF THE WALL history, stretching now over 47+ years, have materialized when two artists — often working in different media, through distinct processes — come together to create a show that elevates each other’s work. Sometimes this happens unplanned. More often, it’s the curator’s touch.Our newest Curator’s Showcase — finely orchestrated and conducted by JODY SWEITZER — opens THURSDAY, JANUARY 15, 7-10 PM, and represents such a rare confluence of talents.

As Jody says in our program, she was seeking to turn the page on a bleak 2025 and "in combining ALDEN COLE and HAROLD LASH’s work, my hope was to bring our community closer together by stimulating a conversation about line, color, texture and, most definitely, light."From the moment you step into DIRTY FRANKS — hopefully in about 33 hours! — you'll see exactly what Jody is talking about. Our two extraordinary artists, who tally roughly a century of art-making combined, have illuminated a path of discovery for us the audience. From Alden's brilliant installation in our 3D space, aglow with found object luminaries possessing bold personalities, to Harold's paintings, his colors, iconography, ideas free-flowing, OFF THE WALL is alive with optimism and electricity.We cordially invite you to experience LASH/COLE in person.

Come to shop the art, meet the artists, hang out with the curator herself, and enjoy light hors d'oeuvres and your favorite drinks, poured by the inimitable ROSE COSSABONE.

And if you, too, fall in love with the artwork, just keep in mind that Harold and Alden are open to inviting art lovers, on request, to visit their home studios, which are literally just that: homes that are as much atelier as domicile. The line, if any, blurs rapidly once you step inside. These are great opportunities to see prolific artists who live to create in their own environs, chock full of master works...so don't hesitate to ask!
