The work of 55 artists will be paired to create distinct “Exquisite Corpses,” resulting in a visually striking and uniquely collaborative exhibition. Originally conceived in 2009 as a commentary on the tension between “old Jersey City” and “new Jersey City” residents, the project embraces both contrast and connection.

Artists are not informed of their pairings until the opening reception, preserving an element of surprise and discovery. Drawing inspiration from the Surrealist parlor game Exquisite Corpse, the process produces symbolic relationships that range from harmonious to humorous to unexpectedly dissonant.

Now in its seventh iteration, the exhibition continues to explore collaboration as a vehicle for dialogue; highlighting tolerance, coexistence, and the evolving identity of our community.
