Exhibits & Events

Join us on Thursday, March 23 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM, for our upcoming workshop, “Documenting Your Work: Photography Tips and Tricks,” led by Philly-based photographer, John Carlano!

Whether you’re building your portfolio, website, and social media presence – or applying for an artist residency, fellowship, or grant – the quality of your image documentation is crucial to the success of your work. This in-person workshop caters to artists of all mediums and skill levels who wish to produce the best possible images of their work – using only a smartphone. Over the course of the workshop, participants will receive in-depth tutorials on basic lighting for 2D and 3D works of art, sets and DIY backdrops, capturing texture and accurate color, shooting through glass, and how to utilize photo-editing apps such as Photoshop Express and Camera+ to achieve the best possible image. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore the functions and limitations of smartphones, learning how and when to employ more powerful cameras and editing softwares such as Adobe CC and Lightroom, as well as when to seek out professional art photographers. Members can expect to walk away with the skills necessary to take accurate, powerful photos of their own artwork, and with a network of contacts and resources that will maximize image quality on current and future projects.

Following the lecture and demonstration portions of the workshop, members will be invited to work closely with their peers and instructor to practice photographing examples of 2D and 3D works of art, using their personal smartphone camera to capture and edit high quality images of existing artworks. Basic materials and photography sets will be provided. Participants must provide their own smartphones, pre-downloaded photo editing applications, and any additional softwares.

This event is free to InLiquid Members, non-members are encouraged to give a $15 donation.
