Exhibits & Events

Curated by InLiquid in partnership with Vintage Wine Bar & Bistro, DeMelas/Checchia is an exhibition of collaborative photographic works by InLiquid members Anthony DeMelas and Pete Checchia. DeMelas and Checchia infuse their unique aesthetics and techniques together forming new works as DeMelas/Checchia Visual Arts Duo. Both artists are dedicated to disintegrating what they perceive as arbitrary barriers between disciplines by expanding the boundaries of their respective mediums (painting, photography).
Anthony DeMelas graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. He is a recipient of several awards and honors two of which are The Lewis S. Ware Memorial Travel Scholarship Award and The Pennsylvania Governor’s Award. He has also exhibited extensively throughout the United States. Anthony’s solo, non-collaborative work is represented by Pentimenti Gallery in Philadelphia, which should be contacted if any parties are interested in his solo work. His work has been purchased by multiple public collections including Time Warner, New York, NY; Thomas Properties Group Inc., Philadelphia, PA; Deloitte Inc., Philadelphia, PA; Fork Restaurant, Philadelphia, PA; Blank & Rome, New York, NY as well as numerous private collections. His commissions include James Ingram, Grammy Award-Winning American Singer, Los Angeles, CA.
Pete Checchia is a highly esteemed freelance and studio photographer as well as an acclaimed multi-disciplinary exhibiting visual artist. His work draws imagery from his documentation of the classical music world with clients including Carnegie Hall, the Philadelphia Orchestra, Curtis Institute of Music and the Marlboro Music Festival, as well as from his extensive travels in Europe, Asia and the US. His work has been recognized for exhibition by arts jurors and dignitaries, including Mark Rosenthal (curator for the Guggenheim), Ilana Schmidt and Chris Dean (Schmidt/Dean Gallery), Lisa Panzera (Levy Gallery at Moore College), and Thora Jacobsen (Fleischer Art Memorial exec. Director). Checchia is in numerous private and institutional collections such as the CHEB Museum of Art (Czech Republic), Carnegie Hall (Archives and ongoing exhibitions), Brutten Herrick Collection (Art and Antiques 100 Top Collections), Martin H. McNamara (339 Gallery, private collection), The Curtis Institute of Music, RAREculture (Brooklyn NY), Hilton Hotel (Philadelphia), and Gio Pronto Restaurant (mural).
