"My work has always been about familiar, mountain landscapes with some kind of imaginative, unexpected twist. Lately I’ve been playing around with a much looser, gestural technique, working faster and bigger. In fact, the show’s title hints at this, because it was taken from a 1965 Joan Mitchell painting, “Terrain Vague.” Both approaches, the newer, looser one and the one developed over the last several years (examples shown below), will be on display.
Terrain Vague et Mysterieux opens Friday, April 17, 5-9pm, and runs through May 3 at Core Art Space, 6501 W. Colfax, Lakewood. Core is open on weekends, Fridays 5-9; Saturdays and Sundays noon to five.
I would love to see you and get your impressions at the opening or some other time during the run. I can also arrange a private viewing when the gallery is closed."
