Reception: Saturday, May 10, 2-5pm

"I was once a modern dancer, teacher and choreographer. I had a successful arts administration career in Philadelphia, PA. By my late 30’s, I had two young children and decided I couldn’t keep up with the demands of dancing, so I decided to stop “the dance”. I recognized the need to do something with all of my creative energy. I went back to school for a Master in Art Education. Ironically, I didn’t even know how to draw or paint, but I was determined to learn “how to see” in order to be an art teacher. My desire to share my art with others came from the teachers I studied with who supported my art practice. I transitioned into the visual arts successfully and figurative art became my passion. I know the human form very well from my years of dancing and I love to draw freely and expressively. I develop paintings of motion to evoke emotion filled with color, line, form and gestural motion.I have had an extensive career teaching art to students of all levels and ages in the Philadelphia area. My teaching is an integral part of my art making process. I empower my students to create in their own personal style. I never stop growing as an artist by listening to others, studying art history and staying informed about today’s art world. I am available for workshops, lectures and private lessons in a variety of media and art topics. Also, I paint commissions in landscape or the figure that meet the needs of a specific site and a client’s taste for a residence or a commercial space."
