The InLiquid Gallery presents Instability, featuring works by painter Joan Wadleigh Curran. In our time, it feels as if nature, climate, people, and privacy are under assault. Instability is a series of paintings made over the last three years that contemplate these issues. Continuous themes of surveillance, consumption, and remnants of natural disaster are shown throughout Curran’s series of paintings, proving our world to be in a state of instability.
There will be a special artist talk on May 1st at The InLiquid Gallery, starting at 6 pm.
Artist statement:
“My work is based on careful observation of the world around me. My intention is to make visible hidden truths locked within physical form. I seek the unfamiliar within the familiar and to reveal significance in the seemingly insignificant. I am interested in a relationship between subject and the body, and a correlation between visual and felt experience.”
