Join Creative Philadelphia, Mayor Parker, City officials and community leaders on Thursday, September 26 at 4:00 p.m. for the project launch celebration of Healing Verse Germantown: The Streets Are Talking (HVG), an impactful new poetry and temporary public art project cultivating peace and resistance against gun violence in Germantown and throughout Philadelphia.

Led by artists/co-curators Trapeta Mayson and Yolanda Wisher, and public art coordinator Rob Blackson, HVG is supported by the City of Philadelphia through Creative Philadelphia, and a winner of a $1M Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge grant.

We invite all those who work, live, or have a connection to Germantown to join us for the project launch celebration and participate in the project components, coming soon:

  • 10 upcoming free poetry workshops throughout Germantown, for community members of all ages who want to learn to heal through poetry creation
  • 52 poems by community members impacted by gun violence featured on the 24/7 toll-free Healing Verse Poetry Line (1-855-POEMRX2), along with mental health resources
  • 20 poetry public artworks featuring poems written by residents installed throughout Germantown in a temporary poetry public art exhibition
  • Free cultural events throughout Germantown centering themes of healing
