Francisco Goya, "Modo de volar" (A Way of Flying), also known as "Donde hay ganas hay maña" (Where There's a Will There's a Way), from the series "Los disparates" (1815-1823)

In celebration of our 40th Anniversary, Goya: Prints from The Arthur Ross Collection highlights several prints that were personally selected by our founder Arthur Ross for the Gallery’s inaugural exhibition that opened on February 8, 1983. In this way, 40 years later we return full circle to Ross’s favored artist.

In 2013 when The Arthur Ross Foundation donated the entire Arthur Ross Collection to Yale University Art Gallery, it also stipulated that Penn’s Arthur Ross Gallery could request future loans from The Arthur Ross Collection. In July 2022, Lynn Marsden-Atlass and Emily Zimmerman visited their Prints & Drawings Department to view and select Goya prints for this loan exhibition.
