InLiquid began in 1999 with a simple idea. Philadelphia’s artists needed a place to be seen and a way to reach people who would buy and support their work. Twenty-seven years later, that idea has grown to a membership of more than 340 artists, free exhibitions across the region, and a community that keeps growing.
2025 was among the most challenging years we have faced. Sales in the art world contracted, and the fundraising landscape shifted for every organization we know. Our programming did not contract. We mounted a full season of exhibitions in our gallery and across our satellite venues, formed new partnerships, and held every show free to the public. Artists kept creating, you kept supporting, and InLiquid kept going.
We made it through together, and now exciting opportunities are on the horizon for all of us.
Already, things have changed for the better in 2026. Philadelphia Magazine named InLiquid a Best of Philly winner for Art Shows. The Center for Craft and Etsy selected InLiquid as one of four Greater Philadelphia organizations in the Craft Catalyst Initiative, a national program supporting infrastructure in the craft field. The Uncommon Individual Foundation and the William Penn Foundation both made their first grants to InLiquid, the latter funding a curatorial project that will bring artists, writers, and audiences together in the years to come.
We remain energized by our mission to create and foster a community centered on contemporary visual arts. None of this would be possible without your commitment to art and artists, and your investment in Philadelphia’s creative future.
