My work is influenced by the animalistic nature of the female form. It often deals with the invasion of the surreal into the mundane and the impossible into the familiar. My pieces examine the perceived psyche of the modern woman, utilizing ancient mythology and symbolism, creating a dichotomy that tells a new story. I aim to illustrate how we think of womanhood in cultural and historical contexts, and how this thought has both shifted and remained over time. I am particularly drawn to large-scale work because of its ability to completely transform the environment that it’s in, while asking viewers to question how they fit into the piece.
