Résumé

Artist Statement

My pixel project collage art takes digital images and recreates them in a tangible form using materials from the world that already exist USING the same principles as digital art. Pixels are now no longer limited to the digital realm. It's an interesting notion around the idea that digital pixels are infinite and come from nowhere. When in the tangible or real world, creating pixels requires intention and has to come from somewhere that already exists. Repurposing material is both a homage to the digital artwork selected for the pieces - they are inspired by pop art that creates artwork from the world that already exists, and it serves as a medium.
The Pop Art movement is a response to the classical baroque artwork of religion and myth. The pixel project is a response to what artists consider a response to the over-digitalization of contemporary art. It exists and is available, but not tangibly. This artwork serves as a bridge from the old world of printed magazines (commercialization) to the digital NFT scope of modern artwork. It is a rejection of the overly digital movement that now exists. This art is impossible to reproduce because of the selections being made, not because of the arguably anti-art technology of blockchain.
