Résumé

Artist Statement

My work is a collection of objects, moments, spaces and memories. I search for the ephemeral in my environment and capture it in highly material creations. Ideas of emptiness, solitude and self reflection are presented with dramatic beauty in highly fanciful compositions that create great contrasts of perception and content. My work is a form of portraiture for the artist who has no interest in the human form, sharing feelings, secrets, and emotion for the subject not present.

Artist Biography

Daniel Clark is an artist living and working in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his BFA in Painting from the Tyler School of Art and Architecture in 2017. Upon graduating, Clark began working professionally in art and architectural conservation, specializing in the treatment of historic furniture objects. His studio practice encompasses the collection and repair of antiques, reinterpretation of decorative objects, oil painting, sculpture, and design. He recently took a sizable break from art making while restoring a South Philadelphia rowhouse which now serves as his home and studio. While the design and construction of this personal space allowed for creative thought and output of its own and strongly relates to the fictional spaces created in his paintings, Clark is thrilled to rededicate himself to his studio and begin building new bodies of work.
