The Fleisher Art Memorial is pleased to present Wherever There
Is Water, a residency project with Brooklyn-based artist
George Ferrandi. This project and exhibition is one of the city-wide
sites featured as an Independent Project of Philagrafika
2010, an international festival celebrating print in
contemporary art.
Wherever There Is Water is a collaborative project centered
around the story of Huberta — an elderly woman who sets
off in her bunny slippers on an epic journey from her daughter's
home in Florida to find her old life and her love.
While Huberta's adventures on this journey are the main thread
of the narrative, George intends to shape and combine that story
with inspiration gathered from many members of the Fleisher community.
George will translate these into illuminated sculptures and other
artworks that will be the subject of an exhibition in January.
The project will culminate in a grand night parade through the
streets of South Philadelphia on Saturday, April 24, 2010.
